Now, let’s understand why on-grid solar systems are better than off-grid and hybrid systems, and how all three differ:
| Aspect | 2 kW On-Grid Solar System | 2 kW Off-Grid Solar System | 2 kW Hybrid Solar System |
| Grid connection | Yes, it stays connected to the main power grid. | No, it runs fully independent of the grid. | Depends on the DISCOM |
| Does it require lithium batteries? | No | Yes, batteries are mandatory | Yes, batteries are used to store surplus power |
| How it functions | Extra solar power goes to the grid during the day. At night, the system imports electricity from the grid to keep your appliances running. | Since there’s no grid backup, the solar panels charge batteries through a solar panel charge controller during the day. At night, the solar inverter uses this stored power to run your home. | During the day, excess energy from the panels is used to charge the lithium batteries first. If the DISCOM allows, excess energy is sent to the grid once the batteries are full. |
| Is it eligible for a solar subsidy in Delhi? | Yes | No | Subsidy is available only if net metering is officially permitted. |
| 2 kW solar panel price in Delhi for homes* | ~Rs. 1.05 lakh with subsidy | ~Rs. 1.60 lakh onwards | ~Rs. 3 lakh onwards |

What are the Benefits of a 2 kW On-Grid Rooftop Solar System in Delhi?
Installing a 2 kW solar system is a genuine step towards improving your state’s Air Quality Index, as it can prevent 51,744 kg of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere over its 25-year lifespan. Then, there’s the matter of the massive savings it offers!
Let’s check out all the benefits in detail:
- It can reverse air pollution, making the air in Delhi breathable again: A 2 kW rooftop solar system can prevent 51,744 kg of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere over 25 years. That’s the same job around 78 fully grown trees would’ve done in that time, without you needing to plant a single one.
- It slashes electricity bills by 90% or more: A well-maintained system will generate free electricity for 25 years. Since it can meet all your home’s energy needs, your bills will be reduced by 90% or more. In many cases, an appropriately sized solar system can make bills near zero.
- It has a quick payback period: It takes just 3 to 5 years to recover the system cost. Post that, you get free solar electricity for 25 years and a massive ROI of ~4.5x.
Why Choose SolarSquare’s 2.16 kW and 2.70 kW Solar Systems?
Most people assume that a 2 kW solar system gives exactly 2,000 watts of panel power. But when you use high-efficiency 540 Wp panels, which are now the standard in both commercial and residential installations, the math doesn’t line up neatly. It comes down to 3.7 panels (2,000 ÷ 540). And no installer can mount 3.7 panels on your roof.
Most installers go lower and use 3 panels (1.62 kW), leaving you with a smaller system than what you paid for. That means lower generation, and often, a disappointing drop in savings. That’s where SolarSquare is different. We don’t cut corners by downsizing a solar system. Instead, our solar engineers designed 2.16 kW and 2.70 kW solar systems for your convenience.
- Our 2.16 kW system uses 4 panels. It’s a better match for households that want the full value of a 2 kW system.
- Our 2.70 kW system uses 5 panels. It’s a smart choice if your electricity use is a little higher, but still not enough for a 3 kW solar system.
Conclusion
The 2 kW solar panel price in Delhi with subsidy is ~Rs. 1.05 lakh*. Investing this amount in a 2 kW system is worth it in Delhi, as it can directly reduce air pollution by offsetting 51,744 kg of carbon dioxide over 25 years. Moreover, the Rs. 80,000 relaxation, which lowers rooftop solar costs in Delhi, makes solar affordable for everyone.
*Please note: The above-mentioned 2 kW solar panel price in Delhi with subsidy is indicative as of 25th October 2025 for the SolarSquare Blue 6ft variant. The final solar panel in Delhi for homes depends on your DISCOM charges, product variant opted for, panel type, inverter type, mounting structure height, type of after-sales service, savings guarantee, roof height, etc. Prices are subject to change.
